Fort Erie Town Council will be asking the Ministry of Transportation of Ontario to stop trains from blowing their whistles in town.
Councillor Noyes raised concerns about health risks to residents.
With locals being woken up through the night, Noyes is worried that they could start to suffer from sleep deprivation.
Transport Canada has procedures for municipalities to make a request to stop train whistling.
With no one opposed, council decided to begin the procedure at their meeting last night.
