Upper Canada Long-Term Care Closes

Niagara Region says, after over 36-years, this follows the opening of a home in Fort Erie

It's the end of an era in Niagara, and the beginning of a new one.

The region's Upper Canada Lodge long-term care home in Niagara-on-the-Lake closed yesterday, after more than 36 years.

The Niagara region says this is after the construction and opening of the new Gilmore Lodge home in Fort Erie, and further development of the new Linhaven home in St. Catharines.

The Upper Canada lodge is owned by Parks Canada, and leased by the Niagara Region.

The two organizations have been working together to ensure a new tenant is found for the building.
