Unifor Members Ratify GM Deal

It's for Woodstock, Oshawa, and St. Catharines plants

ONTARIO - The three-year contract has been ratified by GM autoworkers in Woodstock, St. Catharines, and Oshawa.

In a statement released yesterday, Unifor says 80.5 percent of its members voted in favour of the deal. It includes pension improvements, two new paid holidays, and a faster timeline for workers to reach the wage top tier. It also includes hourly wage increases of almost 20 percent for those who work in production and 25 percent for those who work in skilled trades.

About 4,300 autoworkers work at the Woodstock Parts Distribution Centre, the St. Catharines Powertrain Plant, and the Oshawa Assembly Plant.

Across the border, almost 34,000 GM, Ford, and Stellantis employees remain on strike. They're represented by the United Autoworkers Union.
