Suspects accused of scamming elderly Welland Man out of $9,000.
Two men from Toronto have been arrested in connection to a Welland fraud investigation.
Police say earlier this week, a man in his 80s claimed he was scammed out of $9,000.
The victim had received a phone call from someone claiming to be his grandchild, saying he was in legal trouble.
A second unknown person came on the phone and claimed to be a lawyer.
The man agreed to pay legal bills and took the money out of his bank account, which was collected later that day.
While the officer was investigating the initial complaint, the suspects contacted the man a second time, demanding $10,000.
The men tried to pick up more money, but their car, a grey 2007 Honda Civic, was stopped by police near Highway 406 and the Toronto bound QEW in St. Catharines.
Facing fraud charges are 24 year old Souleymane Camara and 23 year old Enio Martins.
The pair were both held in custody and attended a video bail hearing on August 24th.
A future court date has been set.
Police have released phots of the accused and the suspect car, as they believe there may be more victims and possible witnesses.
