Update: Police responded to call of shooting in Fort Erie
A 78-year old Fort Erie man is facing a list of charges, including attempted murder, after a shooting in the Crystal Beach area.
Regional police were called at around 6:30 yesterday morning, to a parking lot in the Derby and Rebstock Road area, to find a man and woman, each in their 40s, both suffering from serious gun shot wounds.
They were both taken to an out-of-region hospital, where's she being treated, and he's in critical condition.
Police learned they had been collecting aluminum recycling from household bins, he was on foot, she was driving a car. The man got into an argument with the suspect, who is also believed to be a recycling collector. Police say the suspect hit the victim with a wooden bat, then pulled out a gun and fired several shots at the victim, hitting him. The victim tried to get to the car driven by the woman, when the suspect approached the car, and fired several shots at the car, hitting her.
Police say the suspect left in a grey Dodge Caravan, but returned to the scene just before 9am, and surrendered to police. The caravan was found at the suspects house.

- Discharge Firearm with Intent to Wound or Endanger Life (x2)
- Use Firearm During Commission of an Offence (x2)
- Careless Use of a Firearm
- Pointing a Firearm (x2)
- Unauthorized Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Weapon
- Possession of a Restricted or Prohibited Firearm Knowingly not Holding a Licence.
- Unauthorized Use of a Firearm in a Motor Vehicle
- Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Firearm with Ammunition
- Assault with a Weapon
- Aggravated Assault (x2)
He's been held in police custody pending a bail hearing in St. Catharines today.
