Suspects Arrested in Jewelry Store Robbery

NRP say 2 teenagers are charged in Pen Centre theft, they're still looking for 4 others

Two teenagers have been charged after Griffin Jewellery at the Pen Centre was robbed in the middle of the day on January 16th.

Police arrived at the mall that day to find 5 suspects made their way to the store, and using sledgehammers, broke display cases and stole some items.

Some by-standers attempted to stop them, police say one of the suspects then sprayed an irritant at them.

Police say a 15-year old boy from Scarborough is charged with: 

  • Robbery
  • Disguised with Intent
  • Possession of Break in Instruments
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5000
  • Administer Noxious Thing
  • Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose
  • Fail to Comply with Youth Sentence Order

Police have also charged a 17-year old boy from Springhill, Nova Scotia with: 

  • Robbery
  • Disguised with Intent
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5000
  • Administer Noxious Thing

Both suspects appeared for bail hearings, but remain in police custody.

Police are still working to identify and find four remaining suspects.

NRP is thanking the public for helping to identify and hold these individuals accountable.
