Suspect Caught After 3 Robberies

Police say 41-year old Niagara Falls man is charged after holding up a Dairy Queen last night

Police have caught a man they say is responsible for three robberies in Niagara Falls.

The latest happened last night just before 10, when police were called to the Dairy Queen on Ferry Street.

They learned a man wearing a ski mask walked in, threatened an employee with a pocketknife, and was able to escape with some money.

Police caught the suspect a short distance away.

They say he's responsible for a theft on Sunday at the Subway on Victoria Avenue, and December 16th at the Victoria and Maple Variety Store on Victoria Avenue.  Each robbery was carried out in the same manner, the thief taking some cash, but fortunately no injuries to anyone.

Police say 41-year old Shawn Downey of Niagara Falls has a bail hearing today, charged with:

  • Robbery (3 Counts)
  • Disguise with Intent (3 Counts)
