Strike Looms at Niagara Parks Commission

OPSEU local 217 has extended deadline for deal to June 20th

Another potential strike could impact tourism in Niagara.  

Unionized employees at the Niagara Parks Commission will be in a legal strike position later this month. 

Talks between the Crown corporation and the Ontario Public Service Employees Union Local 217 are continuing today and on June 10th, but a no board report was filed on May 17th. 

The union has extended its deadline for a deal to June 20th. 

The main sticking points are wages and benefits.

Meantime, 9,000 employees of the Public Service Alliance of Canada who represent workers at the Canadian Border Service Agency are threatening job action beginning Friday at 4pm if no deal is reached in their labour dispute with the Federal Government.
