Niagara Falls hotel expects late minute influx of visitors
As we get down to crunch time for Monday's eclipse, there's still a chance for anyone needing a hotel or motel room.
Myriah Culp is with the Best Western on Lundy's Lane in Niagara Falls, and says they have rooms available, and so do others.
As for people already here, she says there are many licence plates from Quebec and many American states. "So, we noticed an influx of bookings months ago... I want to say probably September or October of last year. We saw some pick up, we wondered why is this date getting so many enquiries, then we realized it was because of the eclipse."
She adds some people have had to cancel due to unforeseen circumstances, which is part of the business anytime.
But, as hotels and motels prepare for an influx of guests, there's another issue.
She's aware that some hotels or motels have removed existing guests, for others willing to pay more, something she calls unfortunate. "We've been in the position before where we've had long term guests stay over, and that's something from a business perspective that we wouldn't do. But, I can say each business can choose, and if they feel that's the best option, that's up to them."
She adds there have been cases when airlines have bumped people from their seats.
