St. Catharines residents aged 50 and older will soon be able to get a free sample of City programs
A new program has been launched to help some St. Catharines residents participate in a variety of fun programs.
Thanks to a grant from the province, the City will open the Engage as You Age program early in the new year.
People aged 50 and older who are not members of the City's Older Adult Centres will be able to get a free sample of activities being offered.
From January 2nd until the 8th, a free clip card can be picked up at the following locations:
- Port Weller Community Centre
- Russell Avenue Community Centre
- Dunlop Drive Older Adult Centre
- West Catharines Older Adult Centre
The cards, which don't expire, will give the holders 12 entries to 50-plus programming.
A total of 100 cards will be given to first-time users while supplies last.
Once supply has run out, all residents can get free trials of up to three classes.
"This is a great opportunity for those who aren’t familiar with our programs for older adults to not only get active, but also have some fun working out with others," said Koby Vanyo, Programs Supervisor for the City of St. Catharines. "We have a real assortment of programs that cater to different levels of abilities, and we hope that community members will find some activities they will enjoy and go from first-time users to longtime users."
Programs that can be enjoyed include yoga, pickleball, badminton, Zumba Gold and more.
Some programs will require a reservation.
