Councillor hearing concern about drivers' habits
Prepare to see further measures in St. Catharines to slow traffic down in school zones.
City councillor Jackie Lindal is asking for a report on whether speed tables, which are a form of speed bumps, be set up for crosswalks , as well as rumble strips and flexible signage.
"One of the things I hear most often is the lack of concentration and the speed around elementary schools," she says.
Her council colleagues voted to approve the report idea, which would also include the cost to partner with local school boards.
The councillor also referred to her job just west of Niagara. "I teach in Hamilton, and every elementary school has a speed table around it, which significantly reduces the speed from traffic."
