Environment Canada says starting late Thursday, there could be snow or rain.
That could transition to rain late Friday.
Temperatures are also expected to plummet on Friday, leading to potential flashfloods for parts of the province that receive rainfall.
Locations east of the Great Lakes will get lake effect snow for a few days around the weekend.
The weather office says there could be utility outages.
However, exact details regarding wind speeds, precipitation types and amounts remain uncertain.
If you do plan to travel for the holidays, you're advised to have an emergency plan and carry an emergency kit with drinking water, food, medicine and a first aid kit.
The storm is also expected to hit parts of Western New York.
