Open house will include tour and talks
The Salem Chapel BME Church in St. Catharines is opening its doors this weekend to kickoff Black History Month.
On Saturday, the church is hosting an open house from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m.
The event will include tours and talks at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m.
The church was built by freedom seekers in 1885.
One of its members was Underground Railroad conductor Harriet Tubman.
The church also continues to raise money for restoration work.
