It only took 9 days for the team at Niagara Public Health to vaccinate all of the residents at Niagara-area long-term care homes.
In a post on his Twitter page, Niagara's Acting Medical Officer of Health Dr. Mustafa Hirji commended the team at Niagara Public Health for this accomplishment.
"Despite not a hotspot, a 3 week later start, & loss of Moderna, we still did it."
Ontario Premier Doug Ford had issued a challenge to four COVID-19 hotspots in the province to administer doses to residents at all long-term care homes by January 21st.
Hirji says that the next doses to arrive in the region will be given to residents at high-risk retirement homes, and then the staff members at these homes.
He also made a call to the province, urging for more shots to be delivered to the region.
