Region Expanding Speed Camera Program

It has data showing a reduction of speed in Community Safety Zones

The Niagara Region is armed with more data to keep speed cameras throughout the region.

The region says since September of 2023, it's rotated four cameras through its first set of 13 Community Safety zones, and it has data from before the cameras, and after they were put in.

There was an average 7km an hour reduction in speed when cameras first came along, and when a camera was returned to an area for the 2nd time, there are 86% fewer drivers speeding in Community Safety Zones.

The Niagara Region has approved expansion of the program, to include another 4-cameras this year.
