Meanwhile, Russian invasion continues as troops advance on Kyiv

Ukrainian Canadians are holding rallies this weekend to denounce Russia's attack on Ukraine and to support those under siege in the now war torn country.

A local rally will be held tomorrow starting at 2 pm at Saints Cyril and Methodius Church at the corner of Niagara and Vine in St. Catharines.

From there participants will walk to St. Georges Ukrainian Orthodox Church at the corner of Facer Street and Augusta Avenue.

Rallies are also planned across Canada in Montreal, Toronto, Edmonton and Vancouver.

As well donations for humanitarian aid can be made through the Canada Ukraine Foundation at cufoundation.ca

This comes as the Russian military continues to advance on the Ukrainian capital.

Yesterday Russia unleashed airstrikes on cities and military bases around the country in a three pronged attack.

Meantime, Canada and its allies have imposed new sanctions targeting the Russian economy and its leaders.

The prime minister says Russian President Vladimir Putin is the greatest threat to European stability since the Second World War.

In a rare show of unity, political foes in Ottawa set aside their differences to condemn Putin's actions and voice support for Ukraine, including interim Conservative leader Candice Bergen and N-D-P Leader Jagmeet Singh.
