Digital tool enabling police to file criminal charges and Justices of the Peace to enter decisions coming to Niagara.
The provincial government is looking to expand a digital program that allows police to file criminal charges online.
The Elntake program, which has been launched in Ontario's Northeast, Northwest, Central East, Toronto and West Regions, also allows Justices of the Peace to enter decisions, sign documents and request information online.
The system will be available in all Central West courthouses, including St. Catharines and Welland, on April 21st.
"We know how important it is that Ontario's police, prosecutors and courts have modern, digital tools to help them do quick, efficient work to bring offenders to justice and keep communities safe," said Attorney General Doug Downey. "Expanding eIntake to fast-growing cities like Brampton and Hamilton allows us to build a more resilient criminal justice system that cuts through red tape and lets police and Justices of the Peace spend more valuable time on core duties."
