Canada's premiers are demanding a meeting with Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, to discuss an increase in health care funding

The country's premiers are calling on Ottawa to provide more funding for health care.

The premiers held a meeting today to discuss health care funding.

The group is calling on the federal government to increase its share of health care costs to 35 percent, which is up from 22 percent.

Federal health minister Jean-Yves DuClos says while the government is open to providing more money, Ottawa has conditions the provinces need to meet, in terms of how the money would be used.

The group is also demanding a meeting with Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, in hopes of hammering out a health care deal before the spring federal budget.
