Premier Doug Ford says the right to peaceful protest is core to our Canadian identity but is disturbed by some of the images he is seeing in Ottawa.
The protests continue in Ottawa today, with so signs of the trucks leaving town anytime soon.
Premier Doug Ford has been silent on the freedom convoy which first rolled through Ontario on Thursday. Today he released the following statement regarding the protests.
"The right to peaceful protest is core to our Canadian identity. I was extremely disturbed, however, to see some individuals desecrate our most sacred monuments and wave swastikas and other symbols of hate and intolerance this weekend. That has no place in Ontario or Canada. Not now. Not ever. Today, Ontario is beginning to ease some public health measures, the first step in returning to normal. All Ontarians are united in their desire to put this pandemic behind us and return to the life we knew before COVID-19."
Organizers of the protest state the demonstrations will continue and protestors plan to continue shopping without masks and throw more block parties.
