Police Believe Other Victims Involved

Suspect charged over offences involving children

An update from Niagara regional police in relation to child abuse cases in Welland and St. Catharines, including at the Pen Centre.

They've released the picture of the suspect, in the interest of public safety, and hopes that other potential victims come forward.

It all started in August, when police were called concerning a break and enter at a home in the Endicott Terrace and Barrington Drive area, which also involved what they're calling an interaction with a child.

At the end of the month, police charged 39-year old Sean M. Mezo of Welland with break and enter to commit sexual offence, and sexual interference.

As of today, police have laid an additional 10 charges against him, for offences allegedly happening between May 7th and August 26th, involving children under 16 years old, in Welland and St. Catharines:

  • Break, Enter and Commit Theft
  • Criminal Harassment
  • Voyeurism
  • Trespassing or Prowling at Night Near Dwelling (5 Counts)
  • Theft Under $5000
  • Mischief Not Exceeding $5000

He's remained behind bars since August 29th, and has another court appearance October 31st in St. Catharines.
