Police Target Speeders on Kalar Road

Police say they're responding to resident complaints

Better think twice if you choose to speed on Kalar Road in the Niagara Falls area.

Niagara Regional police Constable Phil Gavin tells us they're out there, responding to complaints from residents, as well as a speed study that supported that concern.

"The other element to consider in that area is that there is a community safety zone.  Speed is more regulated in that area because it is closer to school zones," he says.

The Constable adds they will be out there again, where fines are double for the safety zone.  "Certainly sometimes people may not listen words, but things become impactful as it relates to their wallet."

The Constable acknowledges as long as there's been cars, there's been speeding, but again asks drivers to respect the limit.

Meanwhile, police say they pulled an impaired driver off the road in St. Catharines.  They tweeted early this morning a driver was seen driving all over the road and sidewalk in the city.  The driver tried to flee from police, but was caught, and blew almost 3 times the legal limit.
