The Conservative Leader appeared at Ontario Shipyards in St. Catharines this morning, also touching on sticking to his message
Conservative leader Pierre Poilievre announcing today banks will be required to recognize skilled trades for RESPs.
During a stop at Ontario Shipyards in St. Catharines, he added Conservatives will never introduce anti-union laws such as unfair disclosure requirements, among others.
He also explained he was in Niagara because this is an industrial area, but, his Tory candidates meet people who literally cry on their shoulders, saying they can't get ahead despite cutting back on everything. "Their kids are living in their home until their 30s, crime is increasingly overtaking the streets, they're worried about drug addictions... we can't afford a 4th Liberal term."
For travelling tradespeople, Conservatives will end the $4,000 cap on expense deductions, allowing workers to write off all expenses.
Poilievre also pledging to train 350,000 people over 5-years in the skilled trades, and restore apprenticeship grants he says the liberals cut, up to $4,000.
He also explained why he won't bow to pressure to increase talk of Donald Trump, despite polls showing that may be working for the Liberals. "Because a single mother shouldn't be going to bed hungry, worried about how they're going to feed their kids in the morning. They want me to stop talking about the doubling of housing costs during the Lost Liberal decade, I'm not going to stop talking about that. They want me to stop talking about the rampage in crime that's overtaking our streets and the overdose crisis that the Liberals caused."
He also repeated liberal leader Mark Carney will just continue Justin Trudeau's policies.
