Over 400 New COVID-19 Infections in Niagara

Officials confirm 101 COVID-19 patients in local hospitals, including 20 in ICUs.

Niagara Region Public Health is reporting 418 new COVID-19 infections today. 

The death toll remains at 447, and as of this morning, there are 101 Niagara Health patients with the virus, including 20 in ICUs. 

Twenty-six of the hospitals admitted patients with COVID-19 are unvaccinated, and four have one dose. 

There are 5,199 active cases in Niagara, including 1,534 in St. Catharines, 1,041 in Niagara Falls, 504 in Welland and 461 in Grimsby. 

Officials also confirm 15 new outbreaks, bringing the active outbreak total to 52. 

Over 886,000 vaccinations have been administered within Niagara. 

About 85.2 percent of residents aged five and older have one shot and 80.1 percent have two.
