Talks with the province have broken off with no agreement on reimbursement
The President of the Ontario Association of Optometrists, Dr. Sheldon Salaba says people whose eye exam are covered by OHIP, including children, teens and seniors will have their appointments cancelled starting today.
Salaba says the move comes after talks with the province broke off with no new talks scheduled.
The doctor says it would take an increase of about 70 percent reimbursement to cover their current operating costs for the service and the province has only offered an increase of 8.48 percent plus a retroactive payment of $39 million to be split between the province's optometrists.
