The remains of the "Nation River Lady" have been identified, nearly 50 years after her death
The OPP has cracked a cold case from 1975, thanks to genetic genealogy.
Police have identified the remains of a woman found floating in the Nation River east of Ottawa as Lalla Jewell Parchman Langford.
Her remains were found on May 3rd, 1975, and she was 48 years old at the time.
81 year old Rodney Nichols, who now lives in Florida, has been charged with murder.
The OPP says she was identified in 2020, after a DNA profile was created on genetic genealogy databases.
This is believed to be the first Canadian case where this method successfully identified human remains.
