Ontario Reports Over 1,000 COVID-19 Hospitalizations For First Time Since January

Province reporting 1,091 hospital patients with COVID-19.

For the first time since February 26th, Ontario is reporting more than 1,000 COVID-19 hospitalizations.

The province is confirming 1,091 patients battling the virus in hospital today, which is a 40 percent jump from one week ago.

Currently, there are 173 ICU patients with COVID-19, which is up by 8 from last Tuesday.

The Ministry of Health reporting 1,991 COVID-19 cases through PCR testing today, along with nine more deaths.

Yesterday, Premier Doug Ford said Ontario was experiencing a "little spike" in virus transmission, but expanded hospital capacity could handle it without bringing back any restrictions.

Meanwhile, experts such as Niagara Acting Medical Officer of Health Dr. Mustafa Hirji and infectious diseases expert Dr. Isaac Bogoch say the province is entering a sixth wave of the virus.
