
A Welland woman has been charged following a theft in St. Catharines.
Around 1:40 yesterday afternoon, police were called to a home near Church and Court Streets.
Detectives discovered that an unknown female had knocked on the door of an elderly couple, claiming that she had a family emergency and needed to call 911.
The couple allowed the woman into their home.
After a brief telephone conversation, the woman asked for $10 for a taxi, and the couple obliged.
When she was handed the cash, the woman reached into a plastic cup of Canadian currency and pulled out multiple bills.
She threw some money on a table and fled after being confronted.
Forty-seven year old Susan Peacock was arrested today, and charged with theft under $5,000.
