NRP Seeking Suspect in Welland Assault

Niagara Regional Police are asking for the public's help to find a suspect in a Welland assault.

Around 11:55 last night, officers were called to 260 King Street (between Albert Street and State Street) in response to a disturbance call.

A man in his fifties was found at the scene, suffering from critical injuries.

He was taken to hospital in critical condition.

The victim had been assaulted where he was found.

The suspect fled on foot before police arrived, and the Canine Unit wasn't able to track down the suspect.

The suspect is described as a white male between the ages of 30 and 40.

He is tall and has a slim build, and short dark hair.

He was wearing a dark hoodie and was walking a large brindle colored bull mastiff type dog.

Nearby businesses and residents are asked to check any video surveillance they may have between 11 PM last night and 1 AM this morning.

Anyone with information can anonymously call Crime Stoppers of Niagara at 1-800-222-8477, or the NRP at 905-688-4111, extension 1023300.
