NRP Officers Investigated After Man Hospitalized

Police were called to the Bunting Road and Dunkirk area concerning a man in distress

The conduct of two Niagara regional police officers is being reviewed by Ontario's Special Investigations Unit.

It concerns a situation that happened around noon yesterday in St. Catharines, involving a 46-year old man.

The SIU says police were called to the Dunkirk and Bunting Road area for a man in distress.

They found him in his vehicle, and tried to talk to him.

At some point, police say two officers fired what's called their anti-riot weapons at the man, he was taken to hospital under the Mental Health Act.

If you know anything about this, call the SIU.
