NRP Investigating "Yellow Fluid Bottle" Incidents Across Niagara

Police investigating over 50 incidents of plastic bottles being thrown onto residents properties.

Niagara Regional Police are investigating several incidents of plastic bottles being thrown onto properties.

Since mid-May, over 50 incidents have occurred in Niagara-on-the-Lake, Grimsby, Niagara Falls, St. Catharines, Thorold, Pelham and Welland.

The incidents are believed to be taking place overnight.

The residents awake to find a plastic bottle with an unknown yellow fluid on their property, sometimes in their backyard.

Investigators say testing on the yellow fluid has found it to not be volatile, however, caution is recommended.

Residents are asked to limit physical contact with the bottle unless directed by police.

The NRP also says this could be a vetting technique by criminals to see if homeowners are present.

Anyone going on vacation is encouraged to have a trusted person check on their property.

Officers note the bottles are appearing with no associated damage or theft.

Homeowners are advised to consider using motion lighting, closed circuit cameras and locked gates and doors.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police at 905-688-4111, extension 1022200.
