Niagara-on-the-Lake Fire and Emergency Services is reminding homeowners out there that open-air burning is not permitted in residential areas.
If you’re caught having a campfire in an urban area you will have to pay $485 for each responding fire truck per hour.
Burning brush or yard waste is also not permitted in residential areas.
You can still have a barbeque in the backyard but only if you’re using certified propane or natural gas appliances.
In a post on Twitter, the fire department says it responded to several unauthorized open-air burns over the weekend.
