Information session being held for anyone interested in running as a candidate or becoming a third-party advertiser in the 2022 Municipal and School Board Election.
Anyone looking to run in the 2022 Municipal and School Board Election is being invited to attend an information session.
The session is being held Thursday, April 28th at the Meridian Community Centre from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., and is also open to anyone interested in becoming a third-party advertiser.
The event will be hosted by the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing, in partnership with Niagara's municipalities.
The event is free and can be attended in-person or via livestream.
Remote attendees can send questions to clerks@pelham.ca during the presentation, and a recording of the event will be available after the session on the Town of Pelham's YouTube channel.
Information to be covered will include the following:
- Role of Council, municipal staff and school board trustees
- Third-party advertising
- Nomination process
- Campaign period
- Candidate qualifications and disqualifications
- Candidate and third party advertiser duties
- General campaign rules and election finances
- Compliance audits and penalties
- Voters’ list, proxy voting, scrutineers, recounts and resources
The election will take place on Monday, October 24th.
The candidate nomination period will be open from May 2nd to August 19th, and third-party advertiser registration is open from May 2nd to October 21st.
