MPP Wayne Gates is asking the province to address allegations that the Woodbine racetrack is bullying smaller tracks, including the one in Fort Erie
Niagara Falls MPP Wayne Gates says the Fort Erie Racetrack is getting bullied by the Woodbine Racetrack, and the province needs to get involved.
This comes after the Fort Erie Live Racing Consortium filed a complaint against the Woodbine Race Track under the Federal Competition Act.
Gates says the Woodbine track has been using a government granted monopoly to act as they please.
"Woodbine refuses to work proactively with Fort Erie in the scheduling of their Triple Crown races, directly ignoring the request of Fort Erie to create a structure that would allow both Triple Crown races to be highlighted in the province of Ontario."
Fort Erie claims that Woodbine has implemented a horse shipping policy that restricts the movement of horses between the two tracks, however, Woodbine has denied the allegations.
