Niagara IceDogs Name New Head Coach

Daniel Fitzgerald becomes the 6th Head Coach in team history.

The Niagara IceDogs have announced Daniel Fitzgerald as Head Coach, the 6th in team history.

Fitzgerald joins the IceDogs after spending the past four seasons as the Head Coach of the Brantford 99ers in the OJHL.

He is a familiar face behind the bench in Niagara, as he previously served as Head Coach of the St. Catharines Falcons.

Prior to that, he was the Head Coach of the Cambridge Winter Hawks of the GOJHL and the Dundas Blues, where he was named the 2014-2015 Ontario Hockey Association Coach of the Year.

Yesterday, the OHL's Board of Governors confirmed the approval of the team's new ownership to majority owner Darren DeDobbelaer.

As well, hockey great Wayne Gretzky is now a minority stakeholder in the team.
