Staff and physician experiencing an increased number of disrespectul behaviours
Niagara Health officials sending out a release to remind the community their staff and physicians need our support and kindness, particularly as COVID-19 cases continue to climb.
Officials say there are currently 90 patients in hospital who have tested positive for the virus and 5 of them are in the ICU.
Since last Thursday, 7 patients from the Niagara Region with COVID have died.
Their team's are currently managing eight outbreaks at the Niagara Falls, St. Catharines and Welland sites and in their Extended Care Unit (ECU) at the Welland Site.
In addition, 372 Niagara Health staff and physicians are currently self-isolating.
Niagara Health officials also says unfortunately, their staff and physicians are experiencing an increased number of disrespectful behaviours directed towards them.
They stress, " with these latest pressures on the healthcare system, including in our Emergency Departments, now more than ever, our staff and physicians need our community’s support and kindness and to work in an environment where they are safe and respected."
