The organization has created a new position, in part to reduce patient need of follow up visits
Niagara Health is taking another step to address the shortage of health care workers and how it impacts the community.
It has appointed Dr. Jennifer Robert as its first Chief of Primary Care, designed to create more collaboration between the hospital and primary care providers.
Dr. Robert says her new position will lead to stronger partnerships in the hospital, leading to increased safety for patients leaving the hospital, and limit need for patients to return to the hospital for follow up care.
Niagara Health adds with the region being short 81 family doctors, the new role will help support recruitment of family doctors by strengthening partnerships with medical schools, including McMaster University.
