Health Officials say it could mean an early and intense start to flu season
Niagara has its first lab confirmed case of the flu.
The flu vaccine will be available in October for high risk people such as the elderly, those in LTC's, indigenous people and those with chronic health conditions.
It'll be available for everyone else in early November.
Ontario Health officials who watch the southern hemisphere for signs of what's to come for our flu season, say they saw an unusually early and strong flu season.
Dr. Joanne Kearon at Niagara Public Health says this first local case may be indicative a similar experience is coming for Niagara.
