Province's gaming commission says it failed to act to prevent risk of money laundering
Fallsview Casino has been fined by Ontario's gaming regulator.
It says the Niagara Falls casino failed to flag a patron who brought in $80,000 in cash in a reusable grocery bag.
The Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario says it has issued a penalty totaling $70,000 for failing to meet requirements on minimizing the risk of money laundering.
The commission says last April, a patron presented the money in strapped 100-dollar bills and collected casino chips, but didn't play at that time.
The commission adds even though the casino had previously deemed that player to be high risk, it didn't notify the commission or on-site police of the transaction, as is required.
