Project honours the lives of missing and murdered Indigenous woman, girls and two-spirit people

Niagara College and Brock University are honouring the lives of missing and murdered Indigenous women, girls and two-spirit people.

Red dresses have been hung around campuses as a reminder of the violence and injustices suffered by these groups.

The dresses represent thousands of Indigenous women, girls and two-spirit, lesbian, gay, trans, bisexual, queer, questioning, intersex and asexual (2SLGTBQQIA) people who have died from colonial violence over the past 40 years.

The red dress project started in 2011 as an art installation at the University of Winnipeg.

On Valentine's Day, Brock will have a full day of activities in Brock's Pond Inlet to remember victims

Meanwhile, Niagara College will light up a life-size logo at both campuses on February 14th, in support of the project.
