Three year project to cost around $660,000.

The Nature Conservancy of Canada (NCC) is about to embark on a pond restoration project near Pelham.

Together with Trout Unlimited Canada and Niagara College, the NCC is working to restore two ponds on the Lathrop Nature Preserve.

The work will have an impact on Twelve Mile Creek, where warming water is causing problems for cold-water species like brook trout.

The project will cost an estimated $660,000, and the NCC is looking to raise $100,000 to protect the species and habitat impacted.

Donations made will be matched by the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation.

The NCC will be holding a virtual information session on August 19th from 7:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
