CP24 obtains document sent to school boards from Ford government
According to a report by the news agency the province will stop collecting COVID-19 numbers from schools boards and will also suspend the reporting of new infections among students and staff starting this week.
CP24 says the memo was sent to school board officials last week on the day the province announced it was delaying the return to in class learning for two days until January 5th.
Niagara's public and Catholic students don't return to class until January 10th.
While the case counts won't be posted, the province's Education Ministry says school and child care closures due to COVID-19 will still be reported.
The memo also contains details on what schools should due if they have high levels of staff absenteeism because of the virus.
CP24 reporting one suggestion is to "combine classes and assign students to different classes to ensure supervision."
As well the Ministry suggests schools introduce "rotating, planned remote learning days for schools if needed, up to one day per week,"
