Jim Diodati acknowledges many are calling attention paid to the eclipse as over hyped and doubt need for caution
The Mayor of Niagara Falls stresses he'd rather be over prepared than under prepared and be caught in a tough situation on Monday.
Jim Diodati is aware many people are questioning the Niagara Region's State of Emergency and intense media coverage with up to a million people arriving this weekend with the solar eclipse.
He adds Niagara Falls is only a days drive from half the population of North America. "And second of all, based on past events, similar to this, as documented by a major U.S. Emmy award winning documentary company, they said expect 8 to 9 times the biggest crowd you've ever had, based on their empirical evidence of covering these types of events all over."
He adds the decent weather expected will only drive numbers up.
And it's not everyday that groups like NASA or Guiness Book of World records is here.
"And it's talked about internationally. We've been doing interviews with media from all over the world. And we know that all eyes will be on Niagara Falls, and we want to make sure when they talk about us, they say well done."
