E.S. Fox of Niagara Falls awarded $32 million contract.
A Niagara Falls business has been awarded a contract as the province looks to build the country's very first grid-scale small modular reactor.
E.S. Fox has been given a $32 million contract to deliver early site preparation work for the project.
The reactor will be built at Ontario Power Generation's nuclear site in Darlington.
The company will provide water supply, electrical power, information technology and road services.
The project is expected to be completed by 2028.
"Ontario is clearly leading the world when it comes to new nuclear technologies," said Todd Smith, Minister of Energy. "The Darlington SMR, part of our larger plan to ensure a reliable, affordable and clean electricity system, will ensure that we have the electricity we need to support our success in driving electrification and attracting new jobs to the province including unprecedented investments, from electric vehicles and battery manufacturing to clean steelmaking."
