Niagara Health Foundation has officially named the St. Catharines hospital after the family that's given so much
If you ever have to go to the hospital in St. Catharines from now on, you'll go to the Marotta Family Hospital.
Niagara Health Foundation President Andrea Scott says the St. Catharines site was named to honour a family that's been very generous in its donations.
She adds they've helped the new South Niagara hospital too. "I think yesterday, having not only the family there, but they had their grandkids there, and some friends, and some of their workers from Two Sisters. I think it was a little overwhelming at times to see their name on the building, a little emotional."
She says the family is from the Vaughan area, but fell in love with Niagara.
She also says the most exciting part yesterday was the family touring the site. "It is 10 years old, but for them, it is something they were honoured to put their name on, and to make sure that it stays as a beautiful hospital to care for the people of Niagara. Putting your name on it really says a lot."
The atrium of the new South Niagara hospital will also be named after the family.
