CTV News says the 2023 federal budget will include a 'grocery rebate' for low income Canadians
Lower income Canadiens may soon get a little help with the cost of food.
According to CTV, sources say a new measure benefitting about 11 million people will be introduced in tomorrow's federal budget.
A low income individual could get a one time payment of over $200, while families with two children may get just under $500.
The sources note the benefit will be part of a GST credit once the House of Commons passes the budget implementation bill.
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and Finance Minister Chrystia Freeland have both previously said the budget would include affordability measures for people with lower incomes.
