Premier Doug Ford warned today the lockdowns will not end at the end of January.
ONTARIO - Premier Doug Ford delivered a grim outlook of the next couple of months in Ontario this morning.
New modelling will come out next week and cases are expected to sky rocket in the Province. Premier Doug Ford says they are pleading with everyone to follow public health measures, wear a mask, wash your hands often, stay home and stop going to gatherings with people in your household.
"We have long way to go before enough vaccines arrive for everyone. Until then the best and only defence against this terrible enemy are the public health measures. Day after day we hit new records and cases, as hospital capacity is stretched to new limits. We need people to hunker down right now and stay home."
Ford says the Province is looking at more extreme measures to keep us safe.
"If these basic measures continue to be ignored, the consequences will be dire, the shutdown will not end at the end of January and we will have to look at more extreme measures. In the meantime more people will get sick and our hospitals will become overwhelmed, so I'm asking all Ontarians, please stay home and save lives."
Ford says he is calling on the Federal Government to bring us more vaccines.
"Ontario has administered more vaccines than any other Province in the country. I spoke with Prime Minister last night about the need for more reliable vaccine supply to meet our rapidly growing capacity."
All of Ontario will be out of Pfizer vaccines by the end of next week. Ford says without more vaccines, hospitals will have to start cancelling appointments.
