Another teachers union is threatening strike action.
The Elementary Teachers Federation of Ontario says it will start a full withdrawal of services on a rotating basis on January 20th, if there is no progress made in contract talks with the Ford Government before Friday January 17th.
This would affect elementary schools in Niagara, and across the rest of the province.
According to ETFO President Sam Hammond, government officials have only discussed cuts to education over the past six months of contract talks.
The union would also like more support for students with special needs, to address violence in schools, and to preserve full-day kindergarten.
It's also fighting for higher wage increases for it's members.
The Ontario Secondary School Teachers Federation conducted a one-day strike yesterday.
It affected eight school boards across the province, including the District School Board of Niagara.
