UPDATE: Severe Thunderstorm Watch Ends

Environment Canada has called off the severe thunderstorm watch for the region.

The watch suggested the possibility of thunderstorms, large hail, heavy rain and strong winds this afternoon.

The forecast now calls for some clouds going into the evening, with a chance of rain and a low of 12 overnight.

A severe thunderstorm watch has been issued for the northern and southern Niagara regions.

Environment Canada warns that conditions are favourable for the development of severe thunderstorms this afternoon, with the possibility of strong winds, large hail and heavy rain.

The wind may pick up to 100 km/hr, with hail up to 3 cm in diameter and between 25 to 50 mm of rainfall in an hour or less.

You're advised to take cover immediately if you hear thunder.
