South Niagara expected to get 25 to 50 cm of snow by Christmas morning, north Niagara expected to get 5 to 15 cm of snow by tomorrow morning
If you don't have to go anywhere, you're advised to stay home.
South Niagara is under a blizzard warning, and the rest of the region is under a winter storm warning.
South Niagara can expect heavy snow tonight, with 25 to 50 cm possible by Christmas morning.
The highest amounts are expected to be near Fort Erie.
In north Niagara, about 5 to 15 cm of snow is expected by tomorrow morning, at which point the snow will taper off.
The region can also expect very cold wind chill values this weekend.
If you do need to head out, the OPP has a few tips.
"If you are driving, make sure you give yourself lots of distance and lots of time behind the vehicle in front of you, to allow you to stop in case of a sudden slowdown."
You're also encouraged to have an emergency kit with first aid supplies, food, water and medicine.
