Niagara EMS is expanding its Mobile Integrated Health Services.
Niagara EMS is expanding its Mobile Integrated Health Services to assist people struggling with mental health, addictions and homelessness.
EMS says it will be adding a second Mental Health and Addictions Response Team vehicle in the region.
Emergency officials say the Quest Community Health Centre has offered to share two of its nurses with the response team during the temporary expansion.
As well, two community paramedics have been recruited to form a street outreach team to provide mobile medical services to individuals who are living rough and need support.
The second response team was made possible due to one time funding from our local LHIN which will allow the service to be offered until the end of March.
